Regional Health & Safety Manager – Civil Engineering
Salary: £55k – £70k + pkg
Location: London
A Civil Engineering Contractor is seeking an Established Health and Safety Manager to support the Group HSEQ Manager and Group HSEQ Director to continually improve and promote to ensure not just legal compliance but to challenge and develop best practice and to raise the bar on health, safety, environmental and quality performance.
Main Duties consist of:
- Promote the culture of ‘Safe Home Every Day’, lead by example and support the group in delivery of its vision, mission and values.
- The embodiment of the Group and its promotion to all levels of the business, at every opportunity and at all times.
- Ambassador of SHED and the teachings of Behavioural Science in the implementation and running of the HSEQ department.
- Day to day management of the HSEQ advisors within team.
- Liaise directly with and support COO (Chief Operating Officer) for the Core Operations team on a daily / weekly / monthly basis.
- Take active part / role in Innovation Forum, to challenge how the Group can get better every day.
- Facilitate / chair lessons learnt and review panels to challenge how we can get better every day.
- Ensure HSEQ Advisors return incident investigations, audits and inspections within a reasonable time frame, whilst ensuring the quality of the documentation.
- Co-ordinate, control and implement the right level of HSEQ resource to support and service our operational sites and Client requirements.
- Liaise with interested parties and stakeholders including but not limited to, HSE, EA, SEPA, Local Authorities etc.
- Review, edit and comment on incident investigations and support the HSEQ team in delivering a professional investigation and report.
- Ensure ‘Lessons Learnt’ are implemented to prevent long term recurrence and upskilling where required of individuals and teams.
- Attend, actively partake and represent the HSEQ department at internal and external meetings, as required.
- Maintain 3rd party accreditations of the Group.
- Provide technical HSEQ advice to the Core Operations team at all levels.
- Prepare, submit and present various HSEQ reports, as required.
- Liaison with and support of Learning and Development function to provide advice on compliance training.
- Assist operational teams in the planning, phasing and methodology of works to eliminate risk where possible, or to reduce to ALARP.
- Attend planning / pre-start meetings as required to reduce risk.
- Maintain, adapt, improve and implement a combined IMS certified system.
- Foster and cultivate innovative ideas to enhance HSEQ standards.
- Keep up to date with and advise HSEQ Manager / Director / Group on existing and future HSEQ legislation.
- Conduct as required formal and informal audits and inspections to ensure consistency of the HSEQ teams performance.
- Advise on and assist where required, the completion of high risk RAMS.
- Attend and represent the Group at HSEQ seminars to ensure continuing compliance with legislation and best practice.
- Monitor and ensure HSEQ team complete monthly time sheets and/or automated resource and utilisation systems.
- Promote, inspire, mentor, support and coach HSEQ Advisors to perform at their highest individual levels.
- Any other duties as advised by and with the prior joint agreement of the Group HSEQ Director and Group HSEQ Manager.
