Overview: Our client is seeking a motivated and hands-on Trainee Plumber to join their specialist leak detection team operating across Oxfordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your plumbing career in a vital area of the water industry, focusing on customer-side leakage. You’ll receive full training to locate and repair underground leaks on private water supplies and carry out essential pipework replacements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend domestic and commercial properties to identify and locate water leaks on customer-side pipework.
- Use specialist leak detection tools such as listening sticks, acoustic equipment, pressure testers, and tracer gas.
- Excavate, repair, and replace external water supply pipework, ensuring a high standard of workmanship.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed using handheld devices or manual documentation.
- Deliver a professional and courteous service to customers, keeping them informed throughout the process.
- Work collaboratively with experienced engineers and take part in ongoing training and development.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, including safe digging practices and site risk assessments.
Requirements:
- A genuine interest in plumbing and utilities.
- Previous experience or basic knowledge in plumbing (desirable but not essential).
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
- Must be based in or able to commute throughout Oxfordshire.
Desirable Qualifications (Not Essential):
- NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing or currently undertaking training.
- CSCS Card or EUSR Water Hygiene Card.
- Experience with drainage or leak detection equipment.
