GPW Recruitment are partnering with Ford Halewood Transmissions Ltd (FHTL) in Halewood. Ford is investing £230m into the Halewood site, now producing electric power units, the first site to manufacture EV components in Europe.
This is an opportunity to apply for an Evaluation Technician role within the Quality Evaluation Department in Halewood Transmission Plant which will be supporting ICE transmissions and E-Drive Assemblies.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Must have completed an Apprenticeship in Mechanical / Vehicle repairs (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
- General computer literacy using company systems.
- User knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Access database applications.
- Valid driving license.
- Prior knowledge of transmission function & teardown would be an advantage.
- Effective communication skills.
- Highly motivated and self-driven with innovation skills.
- Proven ability to work in a Team.
- Good understanding of 5S and workplace organization.
- FLT / Work saver experience.
- Willing to learn, adaptable and have a flexible approach towards change.
- Knowledge of vehicle repairs would be an advantage.
- Willing to learn how to De-energise and Energise Electric Vehicles.
Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Teardown transmissions & Edrives for investigations ā EOL/FTT, APR, Warranty.
- Rebuild transmissions ready for further investigations ā Bench, EOL or In-Vehicle.
- Function Test transmissions on the Bench.
- Fit transmissions into vehicles.
- Remove transmissions.
- Carry out In-vehicle evaluation of transmission in accordance with the Engineering Test Specifications.
- Represent the Company on drive appraisal events at Customer locations.
- Support Transmission dirt content as per schedule.
- Carry out torque calibration in line with Plant schedule.
- Inspection activity to support Transport Delivery Loss (TDL).
- Ensure that all activity records are updated accordingly.
- Ensure high standard of workplace organisation/5S.
- CIW warranty claim Binning.
- Edrive Teardowns.
- Assembly of Edrives to Electric vehicles.
- Carry out in-vehicle Evaluation of power Units in electric Vehicles in accordance of ES Test Specifications.
Work Pattern: Shifts: 3-Shift. Working days are Monday ā Friday (weekend work & overtime subject to business needs).
The plant currently operates days and a 3-shift pattern explained below.
Working Hours (day shift): Monday ā Thursday 7am ā 15.30pm, Fridays 7am ā 12.30pm.
OR 3-shift:
- Earlies Monday: 6.30am- 3pm, Tuesday ā Thursday: 7am ā 3pm, Friday: 7am ā 12pm.
- Lates Monday ā Thursday: 3pm ā 11pm, Friday: 12pm-5.30pm.
- Nights Monday ā Thursday: 11pm ā 7am, Friday: 5.30pm ā 11pm.
Shift patterns can be changed based on business requirements. When working 3-shift pattern employees incur a premium for all shifts worked of 27.5% ā this premium does not apply to day shift workers.
