Manufacturing Engineer Derby £35,000 – £40,000 per annum 07:30am – 16:30pm Mon – Thurs 07:30am – 12:30pm Fri Permanent Role Currently recruiting for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer for a Manufacturing company based in Derby. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimising manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality. This role involves collaborating with design engineers, production staff, and other departments to improve manufacturing systems and processes. Role responsibilities – For the role of Manufacturing Engineering, you will develop, document, and implement efficient manufacturing processes and workflows. Analyse production line performance and identify areas for improvement. You will conduct time studies and recommend adjustments to improve cycle time, reduce waste, and enhance productivity for the role of Manufacturing Engineer. You will implement and promote continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Kaizen). Collect and analyse data to evaluate process improvements and efficiency gains. Actively participate in and lead cross-functional activities to address and resolve issues. You will specify and source manufacturing equipment, tooling, and materials for the role of Manufacturing Engineer. Oversee installation, setup, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment. Ensure equipment reliability and minimise downtime via a maintenance schedule. Lead manufacturing projects, from initial planning to execution and evaluation. Create project timelines, budgets, and milestones, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. Prepare and present reports on project progress and outcomes to management. You will ensure that products meet quality standards by establishing control mechanisms for the role of Manufacturing Engineer. Collaborate with other teams to investigate and resolve quality issues. Develop and oversee testing procedures to ensure products meet design specifications. Ensure that manufacturing processes comply with safety regulations and company policies. Conduct risk assessments and establish safety protocols to minimise workplace hazards. Train production staff on safe and efficient use of equipment and materials. You will identify opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs by optimising processes and equipment utilisation for the role of Manufacturing Engineer. Evaluate and recommend cost-effective materials, tooling, and equipment. Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to streamline operations. Role requirements – Degree in engineering For the role of Manufacturing Engineer, you will have proficiency with MS Office. Proven experience in the engineering field is required for the Manufacturing Engineer role. Superb analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong leadership abilities are required for the role of Manufacturing Engineer. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and ERP systems. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies is a plus. Superb written and verbal communication skills. Ability to make decisions under pressure. Great attention to detail and organizational skills. Proven track record of implementing quality practices.
