AECOM’s Sustainability & Decarbonisation Advisory is a leader in the Built Environment Net Zero Policy & Research field, including Decentralised Energy and Renewables.
The team currently requires a Senior Decarbonisation Consultant with a particular focus on technical leadership and delivery. We are looking for someone with a strong grasp of the UK energy market, how buildings, estates, towns, and cities can be decarbonized through integrated low-carbon energy projects, such as the introduction of district energy networks, and demonstrable project management skills.

Job Duties:
- Support or lead the technical delivery of energy decarbonisation projects including district energy, local energy system masterplanning, policy development and innovation.
- Project management and support or lead technical delivery of projects.
- Interfacing, communicating and building relationships with clients and key contacts around the business and wider industry.
- Mentoring and guiding junior consultants/ engineers.
- Bid writing and work winning.

Requirements:
- A good understanding of the UK Built Environment and energy sectors/ policies.
- Knowledge of renewables, low carbon heating technologies, key heat network technical and legislative documents (e.g. Code of Practice, Energy Act, Part L, Heat Zoning).
- Strong client-facing skills, and leading or supporting technical project delivery.
- Track record of project management would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of building services, their design and operational requirements including controls and utilities and commissioning would be beneficial.
- General commercial awareness around business case writing (e.g. Green Book, EPC/ ESCO contracts) and GIS experience (e.g. producing GIS maps with energy demand & supply information) would be beneficial.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree relating to energy, decarbonisation, engineering, physics or other complementary disciplines. Post graduate degree would be beneficial.
- Chartered status or working towards Chartership (e.g. CEng, CEnv) would be beneficial.
