Our client is a long-standing refurbishment contractor based in Rutherglen, delivering a wide range of domestic and commercial projects throughout Scotland. Their work covers all aspects of roofing, stone restoration and replacement, internal refurbishment and fit-out, as well as insurance-related repair works in occupied homes. They also have a dedicated team of conservation specialists who carry out ongoing damp proofing and timber rot treatment across a variety of properties. With SafeContractor accreditation and a strong reputation for quality and reliability, around 80% of their business comes from repeat clients. Current projects range in value from £2,000 to £265,000.
The Role
- The company is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team. This role involves managing the commercial aspects of multiple refurbishment projects—ranging from insurance jobs in occupied homes to larger commercial refurbishments—ensuring each is delivered on time and within budget.
- You’ll work closely with the management and delivery teams, contributing to the smooth financial running of the business and helping to maintain strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage project costs from early stages through to final accounts
- Carry out take-offs, cost planning, and tendering across a mix of domestic and commercial jobs
- Manage subcontractor procurement and payment applications
- Submit valuations and variations, ensuring accurate reporting on project performance
- Work with the internal team and external clients to ensure clarity on budgets, changes, and contractual obligations
- Support the insurance division with cost breakdowns, scopes of work, and pricing in live environments
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and contract requirements

- Previous experience in a similar role within construction, refurbishment or fit-out
