A Technical Lead-Design plays a crucial role in the Gas Turbine and Rotary Machine industry. Oversee the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems and products. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Provide technical guidance and support to the team. Develop and implement engineering processes and procedures.
As a Technical Lead-Design, you will be responsible for:
- Supervising engineering teams
- Establishing project goals and timelines
- Managing design processes
- Conducting risk assessments
- Coordinating with team members, partners and clients
- Ensuring regulatory compliance
- Implementing technical standards
- Finding solutions for technical issues
- Providing expert advice on mechanical systems to managers and staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Highly skilled in designing transformation systems, gears, gearboxes, and marine engineering components
- Extensive experience in developing mechanical specifications, scopes of work, technical calculations, engineering drawings, and project timelines
- Strong understanding of reverse engineering gas turbine components such as nozzles (NGVs), bearings, turbine discs, blades, and shafts
- Well-versed in 3D scanning techniques for gas turbine component analysis and replication
- Knowledgeable in Dry Low Emission (DLE) technologies for land-based gas turbines considered an added advantage
- Proficient in industry-standard design software, including Solid Edge, Siemens NX, AutoCAD, and related tools
- Results-oriented professional focused on delivering client-approved, high-quality engineering solutions
- Effective team leader who delegates tasks efficiently while maintaining close oversight and proactive involvement when needed
- Experienced in applying structured change control processes and articulating their cost and schedule implications to stakeholders
- Proven ability to inspire and guide teams to meet goals, even in high-pressure or setback-prone environments
- Adept at leading design review meetings with clear communication and technical authority

Required Skills (Technical Competency):
- Design proficiency in transformation systems, gears, gearboxes, and marine engineering
- Experienced with the production of mechanical specifications, scopes of work, calculations, drawings, and schedules
- Have an appreciation for the main design packages including Solid Edge, Siemens NX, AutoCAD, etc.
- Result-oriented; satisfied only after your engineering and design is accepted by the client
- Delegate to your team while maintaining awareness of your Mechanical discipline
- Implement a solid change control procedure for your team
- Lead and motivate your team to achieve targets, even in case of setbacks
- Able to chair design review meetings
- Enjoy teaching and coaching the young generation of mechanical engineers and designers
Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Engineering or a related field
- Previous experience in a similar role within the Aerospace and Rotary Machine industry
- Experience in heavy engineering industry, power transmission systems, land and marine based gas turbines
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems and standards
- Proficient in root cause analysis and failure mode analysis techniques
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on team, quality, and continuous improvement
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
