Due to company growth we are looking for an experienced Working Foreperson with Joinery experience who is hard working, reliable and takes pride in the work they do. You must also have excellent customer service skills as we pride ourselves on delivering high quality workmanship along with building great relationships with our clients who are both Commercial and Residential.
SUMMARY OF ROLE
Reporting to the Contracts Manager the Working Foreperson (Joiner) will be responsible for supervising building projects both High End Residential and Commercial.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Site Supervisor
- Ensuring a consistently high standard of work is produced in accordance with specification and quality standards through regular supervision and inspections with employees and sub-contractors
- Preparing and presenting site inductions, safety briefings and toolbox talks
- Carry out site safety checks and ensure all staff are using the correct PPE
- Assessing and managing safety hazards
- Ensuring appropriate site rules and welfare facilities are in place
- Directing and supervising day to day operations of employees and sub-contractors ensuring appliance of common operational procedures
- Ensuring material requisitions are issued in adequate time to achieve the Construction Programme.
- Co-ordinating deliveries of materials, plant and equipment
- Scheduling, controlling and monitoring all plant and materials on a weekly basis
- Ensuring all work is completed to programme
- Carrying out regular inspections to ensure compliance with relevant legal requirements, processes and procedures
- Resolving problems and implementing improvements
- Organising and overseeing external inspections, such as with a health and safety inspector
- Creating and maintaining good relations with clients, design teams and neighbours as well as any other stakeholders
- Raising safety concerns at the appropriate level
- Fulfilling the role of Mentor as and when required
- Fulfilling company CPD requirements undertaking all relevant training and development activities as required
- Continually developing knowledge of innovative construction techniques and products to enhance the business and fulfil CPD requirements
Joinery Experience
- Construction of timber frames
- Cutting and shaping wood
- Repairs and maintenance of doors, door frames, windows etc
- Following method statements and risk assessments, liaising with the Contracts Manager
- Carrying out inspection of tools, plant and equipment before every use in line with Health and Safety legislation.
- Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with the requirements of Health and Safety and other relevant legislations
- Snagging work
- Providing a quality service to clients and maintaining good customer and working relationships
- Fulfilling company CPD requirements undertaking all relevant training and development activities as required.

- Previous site supervisor experience (At least 2yrs)
- Excellent trade skills

- Must be organised, reliable and able to take initiative
- Tact, discretion and the capacity to work effectively and stay calm under pressure
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload to meet deadlines

- Ability to sometimes work in isolation but also as part of a team
- Ability to work safely to acceptable industry standards
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of skill and professionalism
- Must generate trust and confidence in staff at all levels
