We have undertaken many construction projects from small repairs to large refurbishments in a variety of commercial industries, whilst always maintaining a track record of keeping our projects on time and within budget.
We are seeking a highly skilled, self-motivated and experienced Fire Alarm Engineer with a proven track record in fire alarm maintenance and installation. The ideal candidate should be fluent in all aspects of fire alarm maintenance and installation procedures, ensuring that fire alarms are compliant with safety regulations and standards.
The Ideal Candidate will carry out the installation of fire alarms and passive fire products in compliance with the latest standards, for both small and large projects.
Responsibilities:- Fire Alarm System Installation:
- Install, test, and commission a wide range of fire alarm systems, including conventional, addressable, and hybrid systems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK standards (e.g., BS 5839) and regulations during installation and maintenance procedures.
- Conduct site surveys and provide technical advice on system design and specifications to clients.
- Troubleshoot and resolve installation issues on-site, ensuring minimal disruption and timely completion.
- Perform routine maintenance on existing fire alarm systems to ensure their functionality and compliance with safety standards.
- Carry out fault-finding and repairs on fire alarm systems, both on-site and remotely, when required.
- Replace and upgrade components as necessary to maintain the integrity of the fire alarm system.
- Participate in a rota for emergency out-of-hours service calls, responding to urgent fire alarm faults and system failures as required.
- Provide fast and efficient solutions to restore fire alarm systems during emergency situations.
- Liaise with clients regarding emergency repairs and provide advice on temporary safety measures until full resolution.
- Complete service reports, installation certificates, and other documentation as per company and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that all work is logged accurately in the company's service management system.
- Provide regular feedback and updates to the line manager regarding the status of installations, maintenance tasks, and emergencies.
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols, ensuring that all installations and services are carried out safely.
- Ensure the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe working practices.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, providing excellent customer service.
- Offer technical advice and recommendations to customers, enhancing their understanding of fire alarm systems and fire safety.
- Address and resolve client concerns or complaints in a professional and timely manner.
- Previous experience in the installation and maintenance of fire alarm systems (minimum 2 years).
- In-depth knowledge of UK fire alarm standards and regulations (e.g., BS 5839, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005).
- Experience with a variety of fire alarm systems, including conventional, addressable, and wireless systems.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., FIA (Fire Industry Association) or equivalent certifications in fire alarm systems).
- Full UK driving license.
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Electrical qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds 17th/18th Edition or equivalent).
- Knowledge of other fire safety systems, such as emergency lighting and access control.
- Experience with commissioning software and tools for fire alarm systems.
