A large-scale organisation in London is urgently seeking a new Senior Cobol Programmer with experience of VMX/ VAX Operating Systems to join their team. It is a great time to be joining the business as they are investing heavily in a large-scale programme to help them deliver new services to the UK. As the successful candidate you must have:
- 10 years of experience in COBOL programming and VAXVMS development
- Strong COBOL programming skills
- Extensive experience with VAX/VMS operating system
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with COBOL applications and VAX/VMS systems
- Provide technical support to end users
- Develop, maintain and enhance COBOL programs and applications running on VAX/VMS
- Write test and debug COBOL code according to specifications
- Familiar with VAX COBOL compiler and related utilities
- Experience with VAXVMS file systems and database management
- Experience with ICMS tool and with RDB Relational Database
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with specific VAXVMS applications or industries
- Experience with other legacy technologies
- Experience with Agile development methodologies
