Role Overview: Preparation and Submission Preparing and submitting bills of costs to the Senior Courts Costs Office (SCCO). Serving bills of costs on third parties in accordance with required procedures. Deadline Management Noting and tracking relevant deadlines and key dates. Ensuring compliance with these deadlines and adhering to the necessary processes. Internal Collaboration Liaising with colleagues to gather all relevant information for the accurate preparation of bills of costs. Advising team leaders and colleagues on best practice and strategies to improve levels of cost recovery. Review and Assessment Reviewing bills following preliminary and final assessments. Managing responses, appeals, and negotiations with third parties and the SCCO. External Liaison Engaging with external costs draftsmen, counsel, the SCCO, and other relevant external bodies as required. Process and Reporting Ensuring accurate recording and adherence to reporting processes. Making effective use of the case management system in line with agreed procedures. Knowledge and Expertise Maintaining a thorough understanding of the assessment process. Providing guidance and recommendations to the team to enhance procedural efficiency and improve cost recovery outcomes.
