Luton Council is looking for Reablement Support Workers to provide a responsive, customer-led service that helps individuals regain their independence and improve their well-being.

What You’ll Do

  • Support individuals through personalised care plans, carrying out personal, practical, and rehabilitative duties
  • Encourage and assist clients with decision-making, coping with loss, maintaining social connections, and managing a safe home environment
  • Work in partnership with other agencies and represent a professional service
  • Use your initiative to report concerns and act on them appropriately
  • Maintain clear and accurate records using IT and electronic monitoring systems
  • Promote equality and ensure all individuals receive the support they need

About You

  • Experience working independently and as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with clients, carers, relatives, and professionals
  • You’ll need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing English
  • A good understanding of reablement and rehabilitation processes
  • The ability to carry out therapeutic activities to enhance independence
  • Willingness to obtain an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) within 12 months of appointment
  • Capability to undertake manual handling tasks
  • A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work across the Borough
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays on a rota basis

Application Process

Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore applicants are required to declare all unspent cautions and convictions; and also any adult cautions (simple or conditional), and spent convictions that are not protected as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2020). A person’s criminal record will not in itself prevent a person from being appointed to this post. Applicants will not be refused posts because of offences which are not relevant to, and do not place them at or make them a risk in, the role for which they are applying. However in the event of the employment being taken up, any failure to disclose such offence, as detailed above, will result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Authority.
