Advice Line Cost of Living Volunteer

The Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) has refreshed its No Life Half Lived strategy to ensure support for anyone in need. Our vision is to help shape a Scotland where individuals with our conditions can live their lives well—Full Lives—with the right support, at the right time, and in the right place.

The Advice Line team provides a single point of access to our services, offering support to people to manage their conditions and live life to the fullest.

Join our Advice Line team to provide information and guidance via telephone and/or video call to individuals affected by Chest, Heart, Stroke, or Long Covid conditions who are experiencing financial issues related to their health. You will help people understand their potential benefits and signpost them to external agencies, ensuring they receive appropriate support.

Experience required

Excellent listening and communication skills are essential. Volunteers should be able to work independently with guidance and support, maintain confidentiality, and be comfortable using IT equipment and databases (training provided).

Additional information

• This opportunity is home-based.
• Reimbursed travel expenses are available, subject to prior approval and submission within guidelines.
• All necessary training will be provided, including Safeguarding Adults (L2) E-Learning, Conditions Awareness, GDPR UK: Essentials, Cyber Security Awareness, and Roles & Boundaries.
• Minimum age: 18. This role requires membership of the PVG scheme in Scotland.
• Availability: Monday to Sunday, with shifts from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
• Volunteers aged 12-25 may claim Saltire Awards hours for their participation.
