To assist in the management and education of children and young people with additional support needs (ASN).
A Learning Support Worker may be asked to work with any child or group of children within a department or mainstream class, following guidance from any teacher. Work may involve developing and implementing individualised education programmes in collaboration with professionals such as Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Child Psychologists.

Bell\’s Brae Primary School, located in central Lerwick, is a non-denominational school comprising a Primary, an Early Learning and Childcare Setting, and an ASN department. The school serves a catchment area from Frakkafield, covering most of Lerwick excluding Sound, with a total of 292 pupils. - Please note that this job is not career graded. Successful candidates will be employed as either a Qualified or Unqualified Learning Support Worker, with salary and duties determined accordingly. The Job Profile documents at the end of this advertisement detail both roles.
- The pay rate includes a Distant Islands Allowance of £1.4808 per hour.
- This is a permanent part-time position, 30 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, plus 6.24 weeks of paid holiday during school holidays.
- Preferred candidates must join or update their membership in the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to employment.
