Are you passionate about making a real difference for children and young people?

We have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to be a Waking Night Support Worker in our established children’s home that has been consistently rated Good by Ofsted.

We are looking for an experienced and inspiring person who shares our passion for supporting our most vulnerable children. We are a children’s home that welcomes young people 10-17 who are on the edge of care, and often support plans of re-unification with family or onward plans of foster care.

The home consists of a registered homes manager, 2 deputy managers, 6 portfolio leads and a team of residential care workers and wake night staff.

The role

Our young people often come into the home at times of crisis. They can struggle with sleep due to trauma and distress as well as ordinary teenage worries. The waking night support workers use empathy and nurturing when looking after our young people through the night. They take the lead in dealing with incidents that happen through the night, and they offer a consistent familiar person that the young people trust and feel safe with through the night. Usual hours are 10pm-8am on a two week rota pattern.

This role can be challenging, rewarding and we are looking for people that are flexible, motivated, and resilient. The right candidate will have the ability to meet the travel needs of the post. Have access to a car with business insurance or the ability to acquire business insurance as the post will involve transporting young people at times.

Along with a competitive salary you will be paid enhancements at 20% or 30%, and mileage allowances that will enhance your salary. You will have access to an extensive training package with development opportunities. You must hold or be willing to work towards a level 3 Diploma in Residential Care Work.

  • Access to our Health & Wellbeing Programme

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
