The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

Based At: Milltown Industrial Estate, Warrenpoint, BT34 3FN but must be flexible to work across numerous sites within the Deli Lites Estate.

Responsible To: Head of Food Innovation and Development

Key Purpose: The post-holder will be responsible for creating and developing new products for the bakery side of the business. The Bakery Development Chef will also oversee the handover, trials and first production of bakery products with a focus on quality, consistency and ensure products are made in the correct manner and in line with specifications. The Bakery Development Chef will drive product improvement and ensure that the products are the best that they can be. They will benchmark products against competitors and drive innovation while training and assisting the bakery staff to become proficient in their roles and improve their skills. The Bakery Development Chef will liaise with the NPD staff to aid in the creating of specifications by supplying information on product assembly, cooking and stage photos.

Operational:

  • Liaising with the Head of Food, Innovation and Development, Food Innovation Manager, the Deli Lites Innovation Chef, Quality, Production, Technical, Purchasing, Finance, Sales and the C Suite to introduce new products/ranges to the business Bakery, Chilled and Frozen.
  • Present exciting new ideas and concepts to customers.
  • Carrying Out Product Development, including Concept Development, Concept Presentation and Sign Off, Costings, Kitchen and Pre Production Trials, Shelf Life Analysis, Product handovers to factory, Product launch.
  • Overseeing the integration of new products into the Bakery, including Sourcing New Raw Materials, ensuring the NPD Technologists have all information needed in ample time to create specs and labels, Product Handover to Factory Team.
  • Ensure product samples sent to customers are made to specification and customer requirements prior to dispatch.
  • Ensure all products are developed in line with NPD procedure and any customer codes of practice as required.
  • Ensure safe development of products by using suppliers with appropriate credentials and raw materials that do not put product safety at risk.
  • Conducting quality assessments of product on an ongoing basis to include Taste Testing, Compliance to Specification and Benchmarking.
  • Assist Technical in the approval of new suppliers by checking supplier suitability prior to requesting materials and issuing supplier questionnaires.
  • Co-ordinate new product transfer from NPD to production ownership by working closely with NPD technologists, including recipe development, labelling, specifications QAS standards, training and assessment of products following launch at 2 week intervals.
  • Monitoring of existing products to ensure that they meet specifications and live up to brand expectations.
  • Keep up to date with current trends and emerging trends in the industry to keep the company ahead of the competition.
  • Actively promote a healthy, clean, safe, secure and productive working environment.
