Concurrently managing a range of projects in accordance with our investment management process, seeking to deliver the project in line with our customer’ expectations.

Responsible for all aspects of the project including safety, quality, cost and programme.

Ensuring project documentation and contracts along with supporting information are compliant, maintained and complete through each phase of the project life cycle in line with SSEN processes.

Providing support to both our customers and delivery partners through excellent stakeholder engagement to ensure the projects proceed safely, efficiently and to plan.
You’ll be leading a project management team working closely with design engineers, field staff, contractors, customers, and key stakeholders.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- The ability to provide leadership to a matrix team to deliver your portfolio of work.
Experience in project management, ideally in a construction environment. Recognised qualifications in construction safety and project management are desirable.

Experience in contract management and ideally have experience of NEC construction contracts.

You will be experienced in the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015 and understand the duties of Client, Principal Designer and Principal Contractor.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are vital and you will need to be comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external.

You will also need to possess good problem-solving skills and can thrive under pressure.
As this role is for the delivery of complex electrical reinforcement projects, previous experience with electrical substations, cables and overhead line projects is very beneficial, as is an engineering qualification. However, we are open to applications from candidates with transferrable skills who want to support our work to deliver net-zero and are willing to learn.
Regular travel is required and as a result we can only accept applications from candidates that hold a current driving licence.

We will, however need your base ‘home’ location to be one of our SSEN offices within a commutable distance of either Oxford, Swindon, Reading, Slough, Newbury or West London (Hayes). Due to the nature of the role, you should expect to spend most of your time at the workplace, either collaborating with colleagues and contract partners or providing visible leadership at our construction sites.
Salary: £58,630 – £68,098 + car / car allowance + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

To help deliver our RIIO ED2 business plan of £4BN and netzero we are expanding our Large Capital Delivery teams across our Distribution licence areas with additional Project Managers. The growth in delivery is significant and you should expect the role to be challenging but rewarding.
