We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Associate Director - Fire Engineering to support the design, development, and implementation of fire safety strategies across a diverse range of building and infrastructure projects.
This new venture will see you playing a pivotal role as an Associate Director - Fire Engineering. You will lead the development of a new dedicated Fire Engineering Team, developing the in-house capability to deliver fire engineering best practice. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the UK, ensuring compliance with the latest fire safety regulations and industry best practices.
Day to day responsibilities will include:
- Help ensure that fire safety is embedded into the heart of design, protecting lives, assets, and the environment.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and local authorities to deliver practical and compliant fire engineering solutions.
- Stay ahead of evolving fire codes, technologies, and global best practices.
- Assist in developing fire safety strategies for new and existing buildings aligned with standards like NFPA, BS 9999, and IBC.
- Carry out fire risk assessments, egress and smoke control studies, and fire modelling (FDS, PyroSim, Pathfinder).
- Support fire design integration across disciplines including MEP, structural, and architectural.
- Contribute to site inspections, meetings, and evaluations of fire protection systems such as sprinklers, alarms, and smoke management.

About You
Our ideal Associate Director - Fire Engineering must have:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge and experience of fire safety codes and standards (NFPA, BS, IBC, local building codes).
- Experience with fire modeling software (e.g., PyroSim, FDS, Pathfinder).
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional registration.
It would be nice for you to have:
- Confident liaising with new and existing clients and an ability to build a good rapport with other parts of our inter-disciplinary practice, and with external design teams.
- Robust problem solving skills, taking accountability for assigned work.
- Previous experience writing and presenting reports along with client interaction and work winning.
- The ability to lead a sub-team, focused on delivery of high quality design output.
