We have partnered with a leading consulting firm in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, who are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their Finance Operations team. This role provides a unique opportunity for an ambitious individual to learn and develop as part of a diverse team serving a portfolio of clients. This is a fast-growing, managed service team that provides bookkeeping, management accounts, corporate tax, VAT, and statutory accounting functions for a wide range of clients.

NOTE: Applicants must have UK right to work status. Sponsorship is not offered for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing daily bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients.
  • Support in preparing basic accounting records and financial reports under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Gain experience interacting with clients to understand their business processes better and provide valuable insights where necessary.
  • Help in analysing business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations with a focus on learning and development.
  • Gain experience in working with accounting systems and learn new accounting technologies where applicable.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders within your capacity.
  • Support senior team members in compliance activities and adhere to the company's policies and legal regulations.
  • Contribute to team success by collaborating with colleagues and continuously seeking personal professional development.

Applicants should have the following:

  • Basic accounting qualification (AAT, or actively working towards ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent). Study and exam support is offered with this position.
  • Interest in the professional services sector, preferably with practical experience within a professional services firm.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to deliver work on a timely basis.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Good teamwork skills, eagerness to learn, and a positive attitude.
