We are looking for an exceptional Hotel Operations Manager to join our Management team at The Barnsdale. The Hotel Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of hotel operations including day to day management of the team and guests' relations. This role will be responsible for leading the Hotel management team for Guest Relations, Duty Management, Reception, Housekeeping and Maintenance. The Hotel Operations Manager will provide effective leadership and strategic planning to the senior team to maximise operations, revenue and guest/member satisfaction.

Working closely alongside the Head of Food & Beverage to ensure seamless service to the guests and generating optimal revenue for The Hotel. Our hotel overlooks the beautiful Rutland landscape with a picturesque courtyard, with a kitchen brigade providing fine dining using many ingredients sourced from the wealth of fine produce found in the locality. Encircled by idyllic surroundings on the north shore of Rutland Water, the hotel is a tranquil rural haven, close to the charming market towns of Oakham and Uppingham.

You will:

  • Ensure all Head of Department are motivated and enabled to carry out their roles to the highest levels, reporting to the General Manager on a daily basis.
  • Work closely with the Rooms Division team, supporting the Head Housekeeper to ensure overall cleanliness and appearance of all public areas and bedrooms.
  • Oversee training and personal development plans for the hotel team, by partnering closely with the Group Learning & Development Manager, and ensuring each team member are given the necessary tools to deliver exceptional service.
  • Monitor all standard operating procedures across departments, driving their adoption and ensuring their effectiveness to enable the team to deliver to the defined service standards.
  • Review complaints and guest feedback in a timely manner, ensuring service recovery strategies are put in place to manage guest expectations.
  • Report weekly on defined hotel areas to the Managing Director.
  • Deliver against commercial and financial KPIs, producing forecasts and supporting our finance team with budgets, as and when required.
  • Support with recruitment and onboarding of new team members, as and when required.

We're looking for:

  • Someone who is ideally educated to degree level, with a focus in hospitality/hotel management. Or somebody with extensive experience across hotel operations with an understanding of how departments operate.
  • Proven experience in a management role in operational departments; Food & Beverage or Rooms Division preferred.
  • A strong communicator, someone who is able to articulate ideas clearly whether orally or in writing.
  • Someone who can lead by example, whilst providing line management and ongoing support with the wider hotel team.
  • An understanding of local markets and guest segments, and how to drive sales and footfall locally.
