Reporting into our Vice President of Environmental Operations & Compliance, the Head of Environmental Systems Training & Audit manages all compliance training and audit environmental activities of the fleet – ensuring operational excellence and adherence to all applicable environmental rules and regulations and Company Policy.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Manages the Fleet Environmental Supervisors program, including scheduling, budgeting and reporting to achieve desirable outcomes.

Collaborates with the new building and R&D teams to evaluate new technologies related with the vessel’s environmental footprint and output, resulting in an enhancement to the environmental management plan.

Manages the Company’s ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 21070:2017 programs and supports ISO 22000 by reference to the standard sections that include environmental program processes.

Planning and management of internal environmental audits, ensuring the full compliance with all applicable regulations and Company policies.

Ensures proper implementation and execution of environmental procedures, manuals, record books, and other applicable environmental documentation.

Oversees the environmental training program for Environmental Compliance Officers and senior management. Coordinates closely with the Head of safety, D&E training and MSC Academy for the scheduling and curriculum of training activities.

Identifies, establishes, implements, and meets targets set for significant environmental aspects within the organization as well as conducts annual reviews which are recorded and communicated properly.

Develops reports on findings, identifies safeguards and establishes metrics to demonstrated program effectiveness.

Participates in all Environmental Department projects and collaborative projects involving other MSC Cruises departments.

Coordinates with the Environmental Operations Managers to ensure that present and future environmental legislation is assessed and applied appropriately throughout the fleet as needed.

Coordinates and supervises the Ocean Cay Environmental & Social Management system, ensuring proper application of the program. Coordinates and administers the ISO 14001:2015 island program and ensures timely submission of the Monitoring Reports to cognizant organizations. Communicate with Ocean Cay’s EHS Officer to ensure that internal and external audits are properly organized.

Experience onboard cruise ships as either Environmental Officer, Deck Officer, or Engineer Officer preferred.

Experience working in a land-based capacity within the Cruise Environmental sector is preferred

Environmental science university studies are desirable.

Fluent in oral and written English. Knowledge of Italian or other European languages is an advantage.

Post-graduate specific studies in environmental is preferred

Ability to use Microsoft Office and other company specific operating platforms and databases.

Proven ability to lead, and contribute to a harmonious and productive team environment.

Ability to understand and interpret various complex regulations and environmental matters.
