We are seeking an ambitious Compliance Officer to join our team and contribute to our objectives of well-managed, sustainable growth and the preservation of everything our community values. This role is suitable for someone that already has experience working in planning enforcement and is interested in managing a mixed and varied portfolio of enforcement cases.
The Role
- Responsible for managing a varied workload of Enforcement cases.
- Proactive monitoring of strategic development sites.
- Providing advice on planning compliance issues in accordance with planning policies and government advice, and liaising with other regulatory services in the Council and with wider partners as necessary in order to assist with the remedy of planning breaches.
- To carry out timely appraisal, investigation and evaluation of planning breaches and other planning compliance checks to support the wider Planning Service as necessary.
- Supporting the Enforcement Team Leader to drive forward service improvements. Effective delivery of high-quality service outputs that meet policy and corporate objectives.
About you
- Excellent working knowledge of relevant planning legislation and regulations relating to Development Management and Planning Enforcement.
- Experience of managing a wide range of enforcement cases.
- Experience of carefully and rigorously investigating planning control.
- Ability to influence and communicate effectively both with colleagues and a wide range of others, including representatives from legal firms, members of the public, legal/estates professionals, developers and landowners to achieve required outcomes.
- Experience of working collaboratively with others to organise workloads and resolve problems.
- Good IT skills and the ability to research case law and good practice.
