Role summary: We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Building Surveyor to oversee and manage a diverse range of projects from inception to completion on a national scale. The ideal candidate will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards whilst adhering to safety and compliance regulations.
Site Surveys: Complete initial site surveys to assess the condition of the buildings and write detailed specifications and reports to put the work out to tender, deal with the contractors and supervise the contractors on site.
Project Oversight: Manage all aspects of the project from planning applications & Scottish Building Warrants through to completion, ensuring accurate and up-to-date project documentation and reports.
Condition Schedules: Undertake photographic schedules of condition as part of DX's lease obligations.
Contract Completion: Complete JCT (2016 Minor Works) Contracts and submit Notification of Construction Project Documentation (F10).
Business Case Justifications: Complete and present justifications for project works, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Tender Preparation: Oversee and assist in the preparation of tender and preconstruction documents to ensure value for money.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant construction regulations and company policies throughout the project lifecycle.
Cost Monitoring: Monitor overall construction costs against the budget whilst escalating risks and variances.
Problem Solving: Address site issues as they arise, providing feedback to Operations and Senior Managers on effective resolution strategies.
Project Reporting: Prepare comprehensive project reports, schedules of work, and progress updates to keep stakeholders informed.
Management Reporting: Provide management information for the completion of monthly board reports.
Multi-Project Management: Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously with the support of internal and external teams.
Technical Drawings: Create scaled drawings and floorplans using AutoCAD LT and Magic Plan software.
Drone Operations: Obtain a pilot's license to fly drones for accurate schedules of work and condition reports.
Essential criteria for this role: You will be a Building Surveyor at either Project Surveyor or Senior Project Surveyor level with a minimum of 5 years experience. You will have good all round experience of building surveying within industrial warehouses but with project experience to run projects for refurbishment, alterations, new builds etc. You will be responsible for undertaking the initial survey, writing detailed specifications and reports to put the work out to tender, deal with the contractors and supervise the contractors on site. You must have a good understanding of the building process to be able to meet with clients and deal with their required project at all stages. You must have excellent written and spoken English and be confident in dealing with people at all levels. Proficient in all Microsoft Office products, CAD, and Construction Management software, facilitating efficient project documentation and reporting.
Security Clearance: Ability to achieve high-level security and enhanced DBS clearances due to the nature of our client list.
Driving License: A full UK driving license is required for site visits and project management activities.
