FD Recruit are working exclusively with a highly acquisitive, ambitious B2B service organisation that prides itself on an outstanding customer experience, to source a commercially focussed, charismatic, tenured Finance Director to join the senior leadership team. Reporting to, and working in conjunction with, a Managing Director who is highly driven and passionate about the business, the Finance Director will be instrumental in streamlining and improving processes across the organisation with a focus on total business development and growth. Ensuring financial controls and the commercial framework are highly robust and designing and driving sustainable, profitable growth while providing sound financial and commercial guidance for the direction of the entire business.
The Finance Director is the senior executive accountable to the CEO and Board of Directors for managing the company's financial health and long-term growth by establishing financial and commercial strategies, overseeing finance, accounting and tendering operations, providing coherence between the Finance and Commercial departments, and providing comprehensive reports.
Based in the Central South Coast region of the UK, this forward thinking, highly respected business requires a commercially focussed senior finance professional to work with all key stakeholders to provide finance, operational and commercial support across the organisation during this crucial period of growth, post acquisition integration and forming a cohesive group structure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Financial & Commercial Leadership: As Line Manager, leadership of the Finance Department and Commercial Department to deliver company outputs. Provide financial & commercial advice and guidance to the CEO and Board of Directors. Formulate and direct financial strategy and tendering strategy to align with the company's overall goals and influence future direction. Contribute to the achievement of the company's business objectives by providing strategic financial and commercial guidance. Drive change management initiatives and implement beneficial financial strategies. Ability to critically analyse and measure performance, in order to tailor efficiencies and drive the business forward.
- Planning, Forecasting and Budgeting: Develop and control the company's annual operating budget and annual financial plan. Oversee budget planning and establish monitoring and reporting tools. Ensure all financial targets are met. Develop financial tools to forecast business performance. Incorporate Commercial department outputs into financial planning and forecasting. Allocate funds for, and monitor spend on, capital investments and purchases.
- Operations and Management: Oversee the finance office, led by the Finance Controller. Oversee the commercial office, led by the Senior Quantity Surveyor. Establish accounting and finance policies and procedures. Manage cash flow and ensure the financial liquidity of the business. Ensure the business operational efficiency, working across all departments to identify efficiencies and drive savings initiatives. Ensure compliance with financial and commercial regulations and industry standards.
- Risk Management: Identify and manage financial and commercial risks. Identify and advise on financial risks and benefits associated with business initiatives. Ensure that all regulations and industry standards are met at each stage. Safeguard the business financial assets.
- Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present reports to the Board to chart performance and aid decision making. Analyse financial data to identify trends and opportunities. Conduct periodic financial reviews and assessments across all aspects of the business.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with lenders, banks, investors, and other financial institutions, and also clients and clients finance, tendering and procurement offices.
- Compliance: Ensure that all tax regulations and financial and tendering laws are adhered to. Produce compliance submissions, advise the board on compliance matters.
- Training and Development: Devise and implement training for finance and commercial office staff.
Our client is offering a very generous remuneration package including a substantial basic wage of £100k-£120k (based on experience and qualifications) plus considerable bonus earning potential is available based on performance and growth of the business against targets. Flexibility in working hours including the potential to work from home where mutually beneficial is negotiable.
The Finance Director will ideally be based in the Central South Coast region of the UK and will predominantly be required to be on site (especially in the initial stages of the role) to get under the skin of the business and forge crucial relationships with direct reports and key stakeholders.
