My Client is a Mechanical & Civil Engineering Company, based in the East Midlands of England, specialising in the pre-fabrication, welding and installation of pipework systems of a wide variety of alloys. We are also involved in the installation of cross-country pipelines and pipeline diversions (up to 42) and above ground installations (AGIs). We are currently executing major contracts nationwide for major oil & gas companies that include AGIs, pipelines and major civil works. Our continued success and growth over the past number of years now necessitates the appointment of experienced Pipefitter / Welders Mates.
Working at their head office location in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, the successful candidate will be driven and motivated with a proven track record. Working in a busy workshop environment, the role will involve assisting in the fabrication, burning and assisting pipefitters and welders of small & large-scale pipework projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Assisting pipefitters & welders with the preparation and setup of pipe fabrications.
- Handling and positioning steel pipework for welding.
- Using hand and power tools to cut, grind, and prepare surfaces / weld end preparations.
- Ensuring work areas are kept safe and tidy.
- Following site safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
- Familiarity with welding equipment and tools.
- Previous experience as a Welders Mate or similar role.
- Must have experience using burning equipment.
- Ability to read and understand basic engineering drawings (preferred).
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar Fitter Fabricator role, preferably within the M&E or construction industry.
- CSCS card.
- Good awareness of health & safety practices.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials and equipment.
- Strong ability to follow instructions, work well within a team, and ensure safety standards are adhered to.
