We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist in the West Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity to deliver high-quality psychiatric care in a secure setting, working closely with a well-established multidisciplinary team to support individuals with complex mental health needs.

About the Role

The role involves leading on the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of service users within a forensic mental health environment. You will provide clinical leadership within a collaborative team that includes an Associate Specialist Doctor, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker and experienced nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments in a secure environment
  • Develop and oversee individualised care plans in partnership with the MDT
  • Prescribe and monitor appropriate treatment, including medication management
  • Monitor service users’ progress and adjust interventions as required
  • Provide clinical leadership and specialist input across the service
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice
  • Contribute to ongoing service development and quality improvement initiatives

Essential Criteria

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • CCT in Psychiatry (with Forensic Psychiatry CCT or substantial forensic experience preferred)
  • Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status
  • Experience working within secure or similar mental health settings
  • Strong clinical, diagnostic and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and teamworking abilities
  • In-depth understanding of relevant mental health legislation and safeguarding procedures
