Permanent UK based, Glasgow or Manchester Hybrid. FPSG's client is a rapidly growing market disrupter in their specialized field. Global expansion is allowing them to spin-up a new engineering hub in the UK. They build powerful, scalable, and elegant software that sets a new standard for the emergency services sector. Their unique factor is their early adoption of next-generation AI-augmented engineering, where they are pioneering how software is designed, developed, and delivered using intelligent agentic solutions.

In this Agentic AI Engineering role, the key responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to the design of multi-agent systems with coding-focused agents (e.g., code writer, reviewer, tester).
  • Constructing the prompts, logic, and scaffolding that guide each agent's behaviour.
  • Handling the AI tools; enabling agents to access the file system, test runners, version control, and API connection.
  • Driving the evaluation and improvement of agents' output, performance, collaboration, and feedback loops.
  • Prototyping new coding assistant workflows using open-source LLMs.
  • Contributing to architecture discussions on agentic build pipelines.
  • Contributing to building AI-powered interfaces for internal tooling.

To be successful in this digital development role, you will need to demonstrate experience including:

  • A minimum of 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally with hands-on familiarity with a tech stack similar to: Java, TypeScript, React, MySQL.
  • Hands-on practical applied experience with AI-assisted development tooling, including several of: Windsurf, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Enterprise ChatGPT (for development).
  • Daily hands-on Agentic AI usage and modification via LangChain / LangGraph is of significant interest.
  • Exposure to LLM APIs, codegen platforms, vector databases, and agentic frameworks is highly desired.
  • A disruptor mindset and interest in building solutions for real-world impact.
  • A passion for experimentation, iteration, and continuous learning.

The key to progression in applications for this role will be an experienced software engineer who is eager to build smarter systems by pairing technical expertise with emerging AI tools. This is not an AI researcher post; rather, you do need hands-on experience applying AI tools to real-world development workflows.

Please note where hybrid working can be flexible, the business often has responsive project needs; as a result, candidates are expected to be within an easy commutable distance of Glasgow City Centre or Manchester City Centre.

Please note sensitive data means this role can only be performed from within the UK.

Please note at this time the client does not have a visa sponsorship licence in place.
