Our client, a leader in the ship repair and fabrication industry, is on the hunt for a passionate and dedicated Lead Health and Safety Advisor to join their growing team in Leith. If you have the experience and qualifications, this could be the perfect fit for you.

The HSEQ Lead Advisor is responsible for providing support, assistance and advice to the business and its associated activities on risk management, health, safety and environmental matters. The implementation of all HSEQ policies and practices for all works carried out by the company either on-site or at off-site locations. They will report directly to the HSEQ Manager and provide advice on the inclusion and implementation of the HSEQ policies, procedures and practices with respect to tendered or contracted work packages.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

  • NEBOSH (National Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety) or NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate is essential.
  • Ship repair, welding/fabrication or engineering background and experience is highly advantageous but not essential.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Developing, promoting and maintaining a positive company safety culture.
  • Overseeing the Company HSEQ Advisors across all DMS sites.
  • Coach and mentor the HSEQ Advisors in the QHSE requirements.
  • Travel to all DMS sites monthly.
  • Develop strong working relationships with local port authority HSEQ management.
  • Assist the HSEQ Manager in the creation and management of the annual department improvement plan.
  • Manage and lead all HSEQ investigations.
  • Close out all incident reports and investigations for the HSEQ Manager review.
  • Close out Non-Conformance Reports and Process improvement reports and investigations for the HSEQ Manager review.
  • Provide the HSEQ Manager with Lessons Learned from investigations to ensure that key findings are communicated across all sites.
  • Lead or assist in all internal and external audits.
  • Chair regular site safety committee meetings.
  • Participate in monthly HSEQ District meetings.
  • Implementing monthly notice board safety initiatives.
  • Carry out recorded monthly HSEQ inspections.
  • Provide HSEQ input into pre-qualifying questionnaires and tendering services.
  • Provide statistical analyses of HSEQ performance data for monthly business report.
  • Assist in the management of Company’s Safety Culture platform.
  • Assist in the management of Company observation card system.
  • Liaise with other HSEQ Teams to review open HSEQ actions and assist in their timely closure.
  • Review and Manage the Company’s emergency response drills.
  • Develop communications with local fire services to arrange site visits and drills.
  • Support the promotion of Safety Initiatives and campaigns to enhance the Company Safety culture.
  • Deputise for the HSEQ Manager when required.
  • Any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by the HSEQ Manager to meet business requirements.
