We’re looking for a Senior Accountant / Client Manager to join a reputable and growing firm of chartered accountants in Northampton. About the Role
In this key role, you’ll manage a varied portfolio of SME clients across multiple sectors. You'll be responsible for overseeing the preparation of accounts, tax returns, and advisory services, while building strong relationships and acting as a trusted adviser. You’ll lead client meetings, supervise junior staff, and ensure work is delivered on time and to a high standard. Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of clients, acting as their main point of contact
- Prepare and review statutory accounts and tax returns for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships
- Provide proactive advice on tax planning, business structure, and compliance
- Conduct client meetings and build long-term, trusted relationships
- Supervise and mentor junior staff, supporting their development
- Work closely with the partners to identify opportunities for new services or growth within your portfolio
- Ensure all deadlines are met and compliance requirements are fulfilled
What We’re Looking For
- ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
- At least 4–5 years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice
- Strong technical knowledge across accounts preparation and tax
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident in managing client relationships and discussing financial matters clearly
- Experience with cloud-based software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
