Are you passionate about community services and fostering a love for reading? Live Life Aberdeenshire Library Services has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated Senior Library Administrator to join our team, working in rural Aberdeenshire.
You will be responsible for bringing a programme of essential library services to the neighbouring communities of Cruden Bay, New Pitsligo and Strichen. Key duties include:
- Facilitating book borrowing
- Promoting digital services
- Providing doorstep delivery of library materials
- Maintaining accurate records
- Managing library resources efficiently
You will engage with library users of all ages and abilities, understanding their needs and tailoring outreach activities to ensure everyone has access to our valuable resources. This includes leading Bookbug sessions to inspire a love for reading amongst young children and Memories Scotland resources for our older community connecting heritage with reminiscence.
Your role will be pivotal in making library services accessible from co-located buildings and community settings, working from more than one base. If you have the relevant experiences and excellent communication and interpersonal skills we would love to hear from you. There is a requirement to be flexible in library location within the cluster according to the needs of the service. Candidates may be deployed to any library within the Buchan Cluster. The hours for this post are currently split between Cruden Bay Library, New Pitsligo Library and Strichen Library.
There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.
Requirements:
This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory. This post has a minimum requirement of one reference, which must be your current or most recent employer.
