As Sample Preparation Technician, you will be a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a passion for microbiology and food safety who is seeking to work in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills and experience:

  • Good IT literacy skills
  • Good general standard of education in Science, English and Maths.
  • Experience in a similar working environment within a UKAS accredited laboratory (beneficial, but not essential as full training will be given)
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures.

Key activities:

  • Use of aseptic techniques, good laboratory practice, housekeeping, health and safety
  • Use of the LIMS system for registering and receiving samples
  • Maintaining and locating shelf-life samples, save samples and repeat samples
  • Organising and keeping clean the sample receipt chillers and sample receipt
  • Disposing of save samples at the end of storage time
  • Labelling samples
  • Liaising with the customers
  • Assisting with carrying out day to day routine analysis following standard operating procedures such as sample preparation, plate labelling, dilution and plating of samples, plate pouring
  • Daily quality control
