As Sample Preparation Technician, you will be a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a passion for microbiology and food safety who is seeking to work in a fast-paced environment.
Required skills and experience:
- Good IT literacy skills
- Good general standard of education in Science, English and Maths.
- Experience in a similar working environment within a UKAS accredited laboratory (beneficial, but not essential as full training will be given)
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
Key activities:
- Use of aseptic techniques, good laboratory practice, housekeeping, health and safety
- Use of the LIMS system for registering and receiving samples
- Maintaining and locating shelf-life samples, save samples and repeat samples
- Organising and keeping clean the sample receipt chillers and sample receipt
- Disposing of save samples at the end of storage time
- Labelling samples
- Liaising with the customers
- Assisting with carrying out day to day routine analysis following standard operating procedures such as sample preparation, plate labelling, dilution and plating of samples, plate pouring
- Daily quality control
