The Role

We’re seeking a commercially astute and proactive Business Development Manager to help expand our presence in the UK market. Your Key Responsibilities

  • New Business Development – Identify and convert new opportunities across target sectors aligned with our sustainable packaging offering. This includes confidently engaging prospects via cold calling, email outreach, and networking.
  • Technical & Consultative Selling – Understand customer challenges and provide tailored recommendations, including guidance on packaging performance, recyclability, and regulatory compliance (e.g. EPR, Plastic Packaging Tax).
  • Relationship Building – Build long-term, trusted partnerships with new customers through virtual channels and in-person meetings.
  • Strategic Prospecting – Use insight, research, and market intelligence to prioritise high-value leads.
  • CRM & Pipeline Reporting – Maintain accurate activity records and contribute to forecasting and commercial planning.
  • Collaborative Working – Partner with internal teams including technical, R&D, and sustainability to deliver value-driven, compliant solutions.
  • Industry Engagement – Represent SIVA at key trade shows or events where relevant to your sector focus.

What You’ll Bring

  • 2–5 years’ experience in business development, sales, or account management – ideally in flexible packaging.
  • A working knowledge of sustainability challenges and relevant regulations such as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and material compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with the confidence to drive your own pipeline.
  • Commercially minded with strong organisational and CRM skills.
  • Ability to simplify technical concepts and sell solutions based on value.
  • Collaborative and adaptable, with a customer-first mindset.
  • Understanding of flexible packaging, substrates, or material science is highly beneficial.
