We are seeking to recruit a Recycling & Waste Disposal Officer with responsibility for overseeing the operation of Whitehill Waste Transfer Station and five Recycling Centres, and providing effective supervision to ensure they operate in a safe and efficient manner.

You must have proven, relevant experience of leading, directly supervising & motivating frontline teams, with the ability to organise and co-ordinate allocated resources to deliver an effective and efficient waste disposal service.

You should have experience of making informed decisions, the ability to solve problems and carry out work according to agreed deadlines.

The postholder is directly involved in managing and monitoring information and resources to plan and deliver projects, prioritise tasks and improve performance.

You will require a good working knowledge of waste management legislation and its practical application, with the ability to effectively implement measures to control operational hazards in a safety critical environment.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are vital to this role, and you must be computer literate.

You should be qualified to SVQ Level 4 in waste management related activities and hold IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent certification.

Knowledge of current issues facing local government waste services, Council policy/ procedures and the waste/logistics industry would be an advantage.

Where necessary the post holder will become directly involved with the performance of a wide range of Recycling & Waste Management functions including responsibility for collection, recycling, haulage and material handling/processing related activities.

The role involves contractual overtime to cover one weekend in 5 on rotational basis to provide Certificate of Technical Competence cover for the Service.
