A new opportunity at Kingsley Napley (KN) for a Programme Manager to oversee, lead and develop a portfolio of exciting projects across a mid-sized full-service law firm. KN stands on the verge of a transformative era with the roll-out of the firm’s first Digital Transformation Programme and its adoption of new tools, platforms and software, touching all areas of the business. This strategic programme will redefine how KN operates as a business, particularly how we utilise technology to add real commercial value.

The Digital Transformation Programme, and its associated projects, will play a significant role in enhancing the firm’s operations by establishing robust technical foundations for continued growth. As Programme Manager, you will lead and manage a range of complex programmes and projects, requiring expertise in large-scale project delivery. These projects range from a client matter inception programme, data workstream, cloud migration, Windows 11/Office 365 upgrade, CRM and AI tools to name a few.

Your immediate team will consist of three Project Managers and a PMO Lead (with additional BAs in the wider team) managing the entire IT Projects portfolio. You will utilise your leadership, technical and governance skills to guide the team and firm through the complexities of project management, ensuring that delivery and output are closely aligned with the goals of the wider firm.

What’s exciting?

This is a fantastic role and one to put your stamp on. The position will be extremely busy and varied, and there’s a lot to do. We’re looking for someone who can work across a number of large-scale, complex and technical projects, bringing together change management principles and utilising skills in both a technical and business-facing capacity. You will work closely with the firm’s Head of IT Transformation & Change, CIO, as well as other partners and business leaders. You will have independence and autonomy as well as full support from the team around you. This role will allow you to be innovative and dynamic in your approach. However, excellent project management, governance and organisational skills are a must – we need a ‘completer/finisher’ who can prioritise exceptionally well, demonstrating a commercial mindset for now and for the future in terms of investment.

KN has consistently been voted a top firm to work for by Best Companies. We genuinely value flexibility, wellness and wellbeing and allow every individual to authentically be themselves at work. You will join an engaged and committed team of IT and project management professionals.

What could be challenging?

KN is a unique firm. We’re different to others and we punch well above our weight. For a firm of 500 people, we have 13 practice areas; and whilst there is excellent cross collaboration, the challenges include a large number of differing processes, systems, client groups and ways of working across all 13 areas. The balance between leadership, strategy and operations is crucial. We are looking for someone who can lead, inspire and motivate as well as rolling up their sleeves to get the work done. The operational element will suit many, but not everyone. Many of the projects are in their infancy, so whilst exciting, it also means there will be bumps in the road. The successful individual will have to be alive to this and change tact when they feel it is appropriate. Conversely, other projects are part-way through. There will certainly be an element of ‘getting up to speed’ quickly and being resourceful and proactive in your approach.

Finally, whilst we are proud of the work we do, it is our people who are the key to our success. KN takes wellness and well-being very seriously, and we have several initiatives and programmes in place to ensure that our people feel included, happy and motivated at work. We look for passionate, committed and diverse ‘team players’ whose core values align with ours. KN also offers a competitive salary, excellent benefits package and a flexible/hybrid working model.

Kingsley Napley are committed to creating a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will be considered for employment regardless of race, age, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity and religion.
