Role Overview
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join a vibrant secondary school in North London from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator who can engage students through rich literary content, dynamic lessons, and a commitment to developing both analytical and creative writing skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3 to 4.
- Foster a love of literature, language, and learning in all students.
- Assess and track student progress, adapting teaching strategies to meet diverse needs.
- Promote critical thinking, discussion, and literacy across all abilities.
- Contribute to curriculum development within the English department.
- Support extracurricular activities such as reading clubs, theatre trips, or writing workshops.
- Uphold school policies related to behaviour, assessment, and safeguarding.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience of teaching English literature and language to GCSE level
- Degree in English or a related discipline
- Recent and relevant classroom experience
- Proven ability to teach English up to at least GCSE level
- Strong classroom management and excellent communication skills
- Commitment to inclusive, student-centred learning
- Enthusiasm for professional development and collaboration
Desirable:
- Experience teaching A-level English Literature and/or Language
- Familiarity with the UK curriculum and exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR)
- Willingness to lead or support enrichment activities
- Previous experience in a London school setting
