The Mold Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing molding concepts. The Mold Design Engineer must have excellent problem solving skills and must be able to develop creative solutions. The aim of the job is:
- Ensure the proper design and develop mold concepts/designs through 3D software in collaboration with Global Ennovi teams, suppliers and internal site.
- Ensure Design optimum solutions to New Product challenges.
- Work with Industrial Product Design Team & New Program personnel to support the introduction of new tools to site for new products to ensure high levels of process reliability.
- Lead the Injection Molding tooling technical function for both Internal Project Teams and Client Teams and manage new injection mold tool introduction to the Operations Team.
- Manage optimization, maintenance and problem solving projects on existing molding tool portfolio.
- Ensure all engineering changes are managed through the relevant procedures including documentation, equipment manuals, & CAD drawing controls.
- Provide direction to tooling personnel as appropriate reviewing tool downtime and preventative maintenance data, tool running status, escalations and corrective action to ensure targets are achieved.
- Ensure that there is regular communication and coordinated planning of all new and existing tool projects using visual communication boards within tooling.
Main Responsibilities Responsible for:
- Design and Develop Mold concepts/designs through 3D software in collaboration with Global Ennovi teams, suppliers and internal site.
- Lead Tool Design Reviews for new molds.
- Work with Tool Suppliers on all new mold developments as the lead tooling responsible.
- Define Tooling Standards which are aligned with Ennovi Global Strategy.
- DFM and tolerance study.
- Manage mold flow requirements and translate data into final conclusions for use in tooling considerations.
Responsible in cooperation:
- Work with Automation team to insure all Design and process expectations are met on projects.
- Hands on interaction and support with plant operations.
- Participation and development of measurement inspection techniques, fixtures and test methods.
- Share best practice for robust mold design and manufacturing with internal team.
- Control all tooling drawings for local site.
Job Requirements & Qualification
- Degree or Diploma in a relevant field.
- Minimum 10 year experience in Design and Manufacturing of molding tools for precision connector industry.
- Experience in overmolding for automotive connectors.
- High level user experience with high end 3D molding software.
- Molding process knowledge.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting technics, e.g.: 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa.
- Reading technical documentation.
- Knowledge of MS Office.
- Basic presentation skills.
- Minimum B2 level English skills.
- Willingness to travel.
