Team/Role Overview
International Controllers are an independent control function ensuring completeness, accuracy and integrity of the bank’s books and records. This position within International Controllers, is within the UK Bank Chain led by the UK bank Chain Controller. Legal Entity Controllers are accountable and responsible for the Financial and Management reporting for the UK’s Bank Chain legal vehicles. The UK Bank chain includes; CBNA London Branch, Citibank UK Ltd, CEP UK Branch as well as 50+ other operating entities in the UK. This role is for CBNA London Branch and will include oversight for other Bank chain entities.
The position will have a high level of visibility within the organisation with opportunities to work directly with Executive Management and will interact very closely with other Finance and non-Finance functions throughout Citi, including the Businesses, Risk, Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis, as well as Enterprise Technology, & Operations.
What you’ll do
- Responsible for the CBNA London Branch Legal entity Financial and Management Reporting and will interact with Senior Management within Finance, FRSS, Operations, Data services, Technology, etc.
- Responsible for financial controls. Understand and assess processes and controls to ensure reporting accuracy.
- Regular interaction with the Business and active participation at various governance meetings and other Country Forums.
- Regular interaction and support of internal audit and second line engagements.
- Active engagement in assessing Local financial reporting and Legal entity Management control environment for all activities performed by the team, including assessment of control execution, performance of controls, and identification and remediation of control weaknesses.
- To lead on short term Controller initiatives that focus on various areas across controllers. This will vary from ad-hoc investigations, process reviews, control performance analysis, to accessing viability of digital tools.
- Active participation in Citi’s Transformation program. This will include active engagement and management of Controller deliverables on a key global transformation initiative with the implementation of a new Strategic Ledger for Citibank NA London Branch.
- Partner closely with the Bank Chain Controller to inform and advise on the control environment and areas of opportunity.
- Understand Citibank NA London Branch financial results, activity and ensure accurate and timely results by Legal entity.
What we’ll need from you
- Experience within the financial services industry and regulatory reporting.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with ability to synthesize complex concepts, and influence change.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and an ability to identify conflicts, discrepancies and other issues and bring together the right team to solution them.
- Strategic mindset, ability to plan ahead to future possibilities and translate them into breakthrough strategies.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and tasks in a complex and dynamic and work well as part of a team.
- Qualified Accountant
- Bachelor's/University degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
