The cognitive neurology team are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Band 7 nurse for the Clinic Nurse Specialist position working within their service to cover maternity leave until January 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in a cutting-edge cognitive neurology team focused on the care of people with young onset dementia as well as rarer forms of dementia. Working within agreed protocols and guidelines the post holder exercises independent judgement to assess, investigate, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate the clinical care and management of patients in conjunction with the cognitive disorders multidisciplinary team. They work alongside and support the education and development of both nursing and medical colleagues as well other members of the MDT. The post holder will promote the concept of clinical governance and facilitate the implementation of the UCLH Nursing & Midwifery strategy and work within agreed UCLH Foundation Trust/Unit protocols and guidelines. Main duties of the job The main elements of the role are reviewing patients in MDT clinics, providing post-diagnostic support, initiating and reviewing medications and providing ongoing support to patients and carers by telephone between face-to-face appointments and referring to and liaising with primary care colleagues when appropriate.
