Our HQ is in Acton Central, with satellite food rescue sites in east and south London. Our mission is to alleviate food poverty across the capital and reduce industry food waste and its harmful effects on the planet. We currently rescue and deliver enough free food for over 1 million meals a month to London communities. Our work environment is dynamic and exciting. Role Description
Food Sourcing Managers ensure that City Harvest have a constant supply of food available to redistribute on a weekly basis. It’s an instrumental role for the charity focusing on building and maintaining relationships with food partners, not only so we have a growing pipeline of food, but to ensure that we add value to their business by delivering an efficient service of collecting surplus. Reporting to the Senior Food Sourcing Manager, this role will look after the wholesale and distribution categories, accepting daily food donations as well as growing existing relationships and onboarding new donors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Grow food volumes with existing accounts understanding the intricacies of managing numerous accounts.
- Strategically identify and contact new potential sources of food to increase the volume and quality of donations.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders across the supply chain – paying particular attention to our Gold Top Donors.
- Share the benefits of redistribution with food donors to ensure longevity and commitment to donating to City Harvest.
- Work closely with our Operations and Logistics Teams across each site to ensure smooth collections and distribution of donated food.
- Monitor donation trends, identify opportunities for new product types to best serve our recipients and track historical donation history to respond accordingly.
- Ensure our food donors have everything they need in return, such as regular impact reports, the offer of partnering with City Harvest (becoming a financial donor as well as food), and the opportunity of face to face meetings.
- Be the voice of our food donors in internal discussions with an awareness of the challenges both sides sometimes face.
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 3+ years’ experience in an account management role.
- Strong relationship management, time-management and organisational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build healthy work relationships.
- Ability to cope with high work volumes and perform well under pressure.
- Problem-solving skills and positive, proactive can-do attitude.
- Technological proficiency in relevant software – e.g. proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Google products.
