Role: Health & Safety Advisor Location: Gillingham, Kent Projects across the region Sector: Property & Construction Contractor Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 + car allowance + attractive benefits package WRG are supporting an independent property & construction contractor who are based in Kent, the business is looking to appoint an experienced H&S professional to oversee all aspects of safety, risk and compliance across the organisation and be the first port of call for all matters relating to H&S. Our client oversees a range of commercial, residential, HMOs and planned/ reactive maintenance projects, predominantly across Kent, and moving North into London and Essex. The role would suit a competent safety professional who has previously worked for a main contractor or residential developer due to the nature of the work. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious safety professional to join a leading regional contractor during an exciting period in the companies history, they have a strong orderbook of work going into the future and are looking for a safety professional to ensure a positive H&S culture across all projects. Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies in line with current legislation. Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance. Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine the root causes and implement corrective actions. Provide training and awareness programs for employees on health and safety practices and emergency procedures. Lead the implementation of health and safety standards such as ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management). Ensure the organisation adheres to local and government regulations concerning safety, environment, and compliance. Manage and oversee compliance audits, internal or external, and ensure timely rectification of identified gaps and renewal of our accreditations. Develop and enforce company policies regarding workplace safety, environmental impact, and compliance. Stay updated on changing legislation and regulations related to health and safety and ensure the company’s policies reflect these changes. Maintain detailed records of health and safety incidents, including accident Lead safety meetings and safety training sessions for staff across all levels. Develop and deliver health and safety training programs, focusing on risk awareness, prevention, and emergency response. Foster a safety-first culture, encouraging employees to take responsibility for their own health and safety. Qualifications and Experience: NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (desirable). NEBOSH Construction or equivalent. Membership to IOSH, IIRSM or similar professional body. Experience with auditing and ISO management systems. Understanding of BSA 2022. Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in a health and safety or compliance management role. In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk management, and environmental laws. Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and educate staff at all levels. MUST be able to obtain a clear DBS check due to the nature of projects Apply: Salary in the region of £50,000 – £55,000 Company car or car allowance. 20 days holiday + Christmas shutdown + bank holidays.
