The predicted salary is between 44000 - 51000 £ per year.

This role is to promote the educational attainment and progress and have the highest expectations for our students. The role includes, but isn't restricted to:

  • Monitoring attendance and attainment for identified cohort.
  • Supporting social workers with school applications where necessary.
  • Attending individual PEP meetings for identified cohort to ensure clear smart targets are set and that there is effective use of pupil premium plus funding.
  • Attending additional professional meetings where time allows including annual reviews and child in care meetings.
  • Discussing issues with a young person that are impacting on their engagement with school and education.
  • Liaising with schools regarding their current cohort of children in care and monitoring overall provision and support.
  • Attending re-integration meetings in support of the child in care, the social worker and the foster carer.
  • Liaising with external educational providers eg tuition agencies to provide education when a school placement breaks down.
  • Working with SEN colleagues to ensure provision is appropriate for looked after children placed in independent schools or in education provision provided by the residential care placement.
  • Responding to individual enquiries from schools, admissions teams, social workers, and foster carers about identified cohort.

Special requirements for this post: You will need to have qualified teacher status.

About you: As a member of the Virtual School team, you will champion our young people with SEND and ensure that they are given the educational support they need to thrive. You will monitor their attendance, attainment and exclusions, providing advice and support to schools and social workers. You will be a tenacious practitioner with good communication skills and the ability to build strong partnerships within the Local Authority and beyond.
