Experienced individuals with strong understanding of a fast-paced heavy industrial manufacturing environment are preferred. Self-motivated, responsible, and able to take initiative in scheduling and problem-solving are preferred. Effective communicators and teamwork skills are also required. The role requires delivering routine maintenance schedules, responding to breakdowns, and electronically reporting on tasks. High standards of health and safety are also expected. Your role will be to effectively maintain all process and auxiliary equipment with an aim to improving up time while reducing costs. Within these roles, you will also provide practical and technical support within their area of expertise by performing necessary breakdown repairs, leading preventative maintenance activity and facilitating the promotion of plant and process improvements. Required of the Mechanical Technician Educated to a minimum C&G level 3 in a mechanically biased technical or engineering based discipline and / or successfully completed a recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship Understanding of how to carry out proactive and reactive maintenance in a heavy industrial environment including the use of mechanical equipment and specialist tools. Hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge (understand and follow schematic drawings) with welding and pipefitting experience also preferred. Ability to read and understand technical drawings Understanding of the skills and controls required to undertake Working at Height, Work in Confined Spaces, Lifting and Slinging. Good problem-solving skills and the ability to think independently. Good understanding of mechanical isolation procedures and techniques. Experience in working in an Industrial Health and Safety Management System adhering to Risk Assessments and Safe Working Procedures, undertaking personal POWRAs and working under company safety procedures e.g. Permit Systems Awareness and ability to identify hazards and update risk assessments and procedures with measures to remove / reduce the risk of these hazards. Display good personal standards in accurate work task completion and housekeeping. Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills at all levels, both internal & external The Working Pattern of the Mechanical Technician We are seeking Mechanical Technicians to join our Rotherham team, offering both day and shift work positions.
