Main Purpose of Role: The Estates Officer will support the Head of Estates in delivering Building Services (Mechanical & Electrical) operational maintenance across the estate. The role ensures compliance with legislative and regulatory standards and supports the efficient and effective functioning of Estates operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and monitor maintenance contracts and contractors to maintain a safe, functional estate.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and procurement regulations.
- Assist in the delivery of minor and major works, planned/reactive maintenance, and refurbishment projects.
- Support the preparation of business cases, tenders, and quotations within regulatory frameworks.
- Undertake condition surveys and manage estates-related databases (e.g. CAFM systems).
- Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality estates and facilities services.
- Promote energy efficiency and contribute to sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
- Assist with strategy planning and performance monitoring against KPIs.
Essential Criteria:
- Degree or HND in a relevant discipline (e.g., Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management), or minimum 5 yearsβ relevant experience in a facilities/estates role within the construction industry.
- Demonstrable experience in at least two of the following: Building, Surveying and Maintenance; Mechanical Engineering Services; Electrical Engineering Services.
- Contract management experience, strong organisational and communication skills, ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
Desirable Criteria:
- NEBOSH or equivalent Health and Safety qualification.
- Prior experience in the public sector or healthcare estate management.
- Proficiency in CAFM systems and CAD architectural drawing software.
