Support Worker Location:  Portsmouth Salary Scale: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour Start Date: ASAP About the Role: GSL Education is currently seeking a compassionate and committed full-time Support Worker to join our team at a school in Portsmouth. In this role, you will offer exceptional care and support to students with diverse needs, including physical disabilities, learning difficulties, and mental health challenges. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a genuine commitment to supporting learners with diverse needs, helping them to achieve their best in both academic and personal development. Key Responsibilities of a Support Worker: Provide personalised support to students with a variety of physical, emotional, and developmental needs. Assist students with personal care, including hygiene, dressing, and feeding, as needed. Support students with daily living activities, fostering independence and promoting a sense of well-being. Work closely with colleagues, families, and other professionals to create and implement care plans that meet the specific needs of each student. Encourage and facilitate social interactions, community involvement, and leisure activities to improve quality of life. Provide emotional support and build trusting, respectful relationships with students to ensure their safety and comfort. Document and report changes in students\’ health, behaviour, or well-being as required. Requirements for the Support Worker role: Previous experience in a care/support role, especially with individuals who have complex needs, is desirable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with patients and colleagues. A patient, caring, and compassionate attitude toward working with vulnerable individuals. Ability to work as part of a team and independently when required. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of individuals. Relevant qualifications, such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care, or a willingness to complete training. Flexible and adaptable approach to work, with a strong focus on person-centered care. A valid DBS check or willingness to apply for one.
