Ensuring our Police Officers have plenty of development opportunities is high on our agenda; you can expect regular openings for promotion alongside the ability to learn and obtain new skills to further your career. You will be part of the CJS department and based at one of six custody suites, Coventry, Stetchford, Perry Barr, Oldbury, Wolverhampton and Bloxwich. Flexibility may be required as you may be requested to work at different sites dependant on the operational requirements. Am I eligible? You must be substantive at the rank you are applying for OR currently working on your Work Based Assessment You must be transferring from a UK Home Office Police Force or BTP (or previously served as substantive in a UK Home Office Force) Outstanding complaints or matters with PSD must be resolved before applying You must have completed Custody Sergeants Foundation course and be an experienced custody sergeant. P rospective officers and staff must be held to a higher standard of behaviour and accountability than members of the public, and that therefore their right to privacy can be fettered in certain circumstances. This is to ensure that members of the police are fully aware and accountable for the unique powers entrusted to them and the standards of professional behaviour they swear to uphold. Our training courses will provide you with an overview of West Midlands Police as a Force and how we operate as an organisation, along with ICT training on our systems and Personal Safety and First Aid refresher. Training courses are approximately 2 weeks long, and once completed you will be posted and land with your new team. Vetting: Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process. Medical: Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
