I am seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Specialist to design, implement, manage, and support our enterprise network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a proactive approach to network reliability, performance, and security.
It is the responsibility of the relevant technical specialist to support the broader ICT function in managing, delivering, and deploying network infrastructure and communication systems across the organisation, ensuring adherence to ICT policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure the safety, availability, and reliability of ICT systems by delivering a broad range of technical tasks with accuracy and effectiveness.
- Provide advanced (3rd line) support for network and communication systems, including platforms such as Meraki, Cisco, Checkpoint, and Mitel.
- Oversee the monitoring and optimisation of network environments (LAN, WAN, Cloud).
- Manage voice platforms and coordinate with third-party providers as needed for support and optimisation.
- Engage and manage relationships with service providers and partners for outsourced network services (e.g. NOCs, MSPs).
- Source and onboard new service partners to address gaps or improve service delivery.
- Maintain documentation detailing the configuration, design, processes, and tools associated with network infrastructure.
- Identify areas for enhancement and propose solutions aligned with business needs and industry best practices (e.g. ITIL).
- Support IT continuity efforts by ensuring appropriate technologies and processes are in place for data integrity and access.
- Prioritise and manage workloads to meet project deadlines and service targets.
- Collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently.
- Serve as a point of escalation for complex incidents or technical challenges.
- Ensure incident resolution meets agreed service levels and business expectations.
- Maintain a strong understanding of organisational goals and align IT services accordingly.
- Coordinate outage communications in partnership with relevant IT teams.
- Participate in cross-functional or project teams, which may involve occasional international travel.
- Represent the ICT function at internal and external meetings as needed.
- Continuously develop professional knowledge and attend relevant training to stay current with industry developments.
- Act as a subject matter expert on secure configuration practices, including VLANs, QoS, scripting, and network security protocols.
- Demonstrate deep technical knowledge across network technologies such as WAN, MPLS, VPN, LAN, firewalls, and telecom systems.
- Work with technologies and platforms including Cisco, Meraki, Checkpoint, Azure Cloud, and Microsoft 365.
- Oversee third-party contracts and services, ensuring SLAs and service delivery expectations are met.
- Build strong collaborative relationships within the ICT team and with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay informed about technology trends and compliance requirements, incorporating best practices and feedback for continuous improvement.
- Contribute to internal compliance activities, perform audits, and support the resolution of action points.
- Participate in the ICT on-call support rotation when required.
- Proven hands-on experience with enterprise networking technologies including Cisco, Meraki, Checkpoint, Microsoft 365, and cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure.
- Strong understanding of secure network configuration principles, including VLANs, Quality of Service (QoS), scripting, system maintenance, and network access control protocols (e.g., 802.1x).
- Practical experience in the physical design and implementation of Local Area Networks (LAN).
- Experience in managing and maintaining Wide Area Network (WAN) infrastructure.
- Demonstrate awareness of and adherence to organisational health, safety, and risk management policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Acknowledge and commit to the organisation’s core health and safety principles or charter.
- Consistently exhibit professional behaviours aligned with the organisation’s competency framework or code of conduct.
- Maintain appropriate levels of competence by completing required training and upholding relevant professional qualifications.
