Clarke Energy is hiring a Senior Proposals Engineer to lead bid development across complex energy projects. Make an Impact in Proposals & Engineering
As a Senior Proposals Engineer, you will take ownership of proposal development, ensuring that our bids are not only technically sound but also aligned with customer needs and commercial goals. You’ll play a critical role in securing new projects across sectors like CHP, BESS, gas peaking, hydrogen, and data centres. Additionally, you’ll act as a mentor within the team, contributing to continuous improvement across our proposals function.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Lead the creation of winning proposals, including scope, pricing, and commercial terms
- Interpret customer enquiries, RFQs, and technical specifications
- Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Project teams throughout the bid lifecycle
- Organise and manage site visits, supplier meetings, and subcontractor discussions
- Guide and support Sales Engineers during customer engagements
- Identify and mitigate risks—both technical and commercial
- Prepare and review supplier and subcontractor RFQs
- Act as the primary customer contact for proposal-related discussions and clarifications
- Ensure a smooth transition of successful bids to the Project Delivery team
- Maintain accurate records and communicate progress to senior leadership
- Drive process improvements within the proposals department
- Champion compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards
- Provide mentorship and technical coaching to junior proposals team members
What You’ll Bring to the Team
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in technical proposals or engineering sales
- Strong mechanical and electrical engineering background
- Proven ability to lead complex bid development
- Skilled in interpreting technical specs and negotiating commercial terms
- Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management abilities
- Strategic mindset with a solid grasp of risk and commercial value
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Desirable Experience:
- Degree or HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Experience working on CHP, BESS, hydrogen, peaking plants, or data centre projects
- Previous experience mentoring or managing engineers
