Electronics Design Engineer (Permanent, Contract)

Electronic Design Engineer – UK Syos family of utilitarian vehicles are all powered with Syos’ control system with various advanced computer vision, swarming and communication systems. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Electronics Design Engineer to join our expanding Electronics Components team in the UK. You will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of robust electronic systems for vision, motion and control of our advanced unmanned aerial and surface vehicles. Schematic Capture & PCB Design: Develop detailed schematics and perform multi-layer Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layouts for critical onboard electronic systems. Digital Design: Design and implement digital circuitry for various vehicle subsystems. Electronics Assembly & Debugging: Participate in the assembly of electronic prototypes and conduct thorough fault-finding and debugging to ensure system functionality. Communication Interfaces: Design and integrate various communication interfaces, including Ethernet, I2C, MIPI CSI2, and other serial communication protocols. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, particularly the software team, to ensure seamless hardware-software integration and system optimization. Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex electronic design and integration challenges. Create comprehensive design documentation, test plans, and assembly procedures. A Bachelor\’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. ~3+ years of proven professional experience in electronics design and development. Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout software (e.g. Demonstrable experience with multi-layer PCB design. Strong understanding of digital electronics design principles. Hands-on experience with electronics assembly, testing, fault-finding, and debugging. Experience with Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles. Knowledge of high-power electronics, 3-phase motors, and motor drivers. Understanding of mixed-signal circuit design. Experience with microcontroller programming (C/C++, Assembly, Python).
