Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – SEMH/PRU/SEN Schools Location: Haringey, London Contract Type: Full-time / Permanent/Long Term Salary: Depending on experience Start Date: ASAP Job Description: We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our vibrant and SEN/PRU/SEMH Primary & Secondary Schools in Haringey. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with children with diverse learning needs, providing high-quality support and interventions tailored to individual students. Key Responsibilities: * Support teachers in delivering lessons to small groups and 1:1 for students with special educational needs. * Plan, deliver, and assess tailored interventions for students with various learning and behavioral needs. * Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs). * Foster an inclusive learning environment, promoting the participation of all students in class activities. * Assist in managing students’ behavior and supporting their emotional well-being. * Help with preparing and adapting teaching materials to meet students’ needs. * Provide feedback on students’ progress to the class teacher and other professionals. * Support students in all aspects of their learning, including personal care where necessary. Requirements: * HLTA qualification or equivalent experience. * Previous experience working with children in an SEN or mainstream school setting. * Knowledge and understanding of various SEN, including autism, dyslexia, ADHD, etc. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Patience, resilience, and a passion for supporting children’s learning and development. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * A commitment to professional development. Desirable: * Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or other complex needs. * Experience with strategies for managing behavior and promoting emotional well-being.
