A professional and supportive regional law firm in the West Midlands, renowned for delivering exceptional legal services in Employment and Commercial matters, is seeking an ambitious Family Solicitor to become their Head of Family Department to lead and expand their thriving family law practice.
As Head of Family Department, you will lead our family law team, driving strategic growth, managing high-value cases, and delivering outstanding client service. This is a dynamic opportunity for an up-and-coming solicitor with 8+ years PQE to shape the department, grow the team, and enhance our reputation in the West Midlands legal market.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and manage the family law department, overseeing casework, team performance, and strategic development.
- Handle a diverse caseload, including divorce, financial settlements, child arrangements, prenuptial agreements, and domestic abuse cases.
- Drive business development, building client relationships and expanding the department’s regional presence.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop junior solicitors and support staff to grow the team.
- Ensure compliance with SRA regulations and maintain high standards of client care.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., private client, corporate) to provide holistic client solutions.
- Represent the firm at networking events, industry seminars, and in the local community.
- Qualified solicitor with 8+ years PQE in family law, ideally with Law Society Family Law or Resolution accreditation.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams or a strong desire to step into a leadership role.
- Expertise in high-net-worth divorce, complex financial remedies, and children matters.
- Strong business development acumen, with a track record of winning new clients or growing a practice area.
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills, with a client-centric approach.
- Knowledge of legal aid processes is a plus, given the region’s diverse client base.
- Ability to work full-time with flexibility for hybrid working (office and remote).
